This video gives you a quick virtual tour of my new home recording studio – a converted upstairs bedroom!
I’m really excited to start recording in September 2020 – Bach and Ysaye!!
This video also shares a few words about what I’m thinking about regarding tuning. (Preview: I’ll be playing the Bach at A=432 – wow! I just decided a couple days ago… big decision which is blowing my mind – I LOVE IT. Now I need to decide what to do about the Ysaye… maybe A=445???…hmmmmmm….)
A bit of the story… I decided about a year ago to start practicing for my 50th birthday gift to myself: a professional solo violin recording. I talked to an engineer in Cleveland about where we’d record (rent a space there, or here in Cincinnati?), but when the pandemic hit in March 2020, it became clear that I wouldn’t be traveling anywhere to record anytime soon!
So… I decided to do it myself!
Since the spring, I’ve been working on turning my home studio into a quality recording space, improving the acoustics, purchasing the gear, learning the recording software, etc.
There’s a steep learning curve, but I am determined! And it feels SO GOOD to be learning how to do this on my own – with the help of excellent engineers and producer helping me remotely. It will be great to have a space at home where I can record whatever and whenever I want down the road.
Stay tuned for more updates as we near recording Day 1! Make sure you’re on my mailing list so you don’t miss anything. You’ll want to find out when these recordings will be released, too! 🙂
