My student, Bart – a violinist from the Netherlands – said something that touched me deeply and really made my day: “Doing this simply makes me happy. My daughter needs a happy dad.”
And then he shared this gem: “Making music is a way of celebrating existence…and that's what I want to do!” ❤️
Those words capture exactly why I do this work.
Yes, we work on technique, musical phrasing, practice habits and confident performance—all the practical aspects of becoming a better musician.
But what excites me most is helping people discover a simpler, easier way to be themselves and make music that supports the rest of their lives, too.
One of my favorite moments of the session came when Bart quoted his Buddhist teacher, Thich Nhat Hanh, who said: “If you're not practicing, enjoy your non-practice.”
YES! What a beautiful shift from pressure and guilt into freedom, acceptance, and trust!
Helping musicians become happier, more present, and more fully themselves—both on and off the stage—is one of the greatest privileges of my life. 💛
