All my life, I’ve wanted to make a professional solo violin recording. I’ve made many professional recordings with ensembles, such as Apollo’s Fire (a Grammy Award-winning ensemble), but never a solo violin recording. Since I’m turning 50 (!!) in July, I figure it’s about time!

So, I started practicing with this idea in mind back in the Fall of 2019, and now it’s time to put the recording project into action, so I can release it before my 51st birthday!
My tentative release date is July 3, 2021… my birthday is July 6th.
This project is extremely meaningful for me, which is why I’ve decided to record and document the whole process, from start to finish.
Along the way, I’ll be sharing snippets of practice sessions, pictures of my studio, thoughts, ideas, struggles (and tears…) when the going gets tough (which it probably will…), and my jubilation once the end is nigh!
I will enjoy sharing all of this with you, and getting your feedback, suggestions, and encouragement as I stay the course and make this happen, seeing it through to the end!
MY FIRST STEP:
Purchases for converting my home office (an upstairs bedroom) into a home recording studio. Acoustic panels, microphone, speakers….
I’ve got everything I need at this point, and it’s time to figure out where to put those acoustic panels. Easier said than done… not only do I need to learn how to use a drill (HAHA – true!) – which I just purchased – but WHERE do they go??? Getting some professional help with that… acoustics are NOT simple.
