Yin Yang Moon, by exsodusThere is a magical moment, a suspended moment of Mystery…

when one thing is no longer the old thing, but the new is not yet born…

A moment of transition, of exquisite opportunity…

when paradoxes unite and opposites merge…

When the down-bow becomes the up-bow, and the up-bow the down…
when the in-breath turns into the out-breath, and the out into the in…

There is a moment when things turn, and spiral
and change, and shift…

Can you sense that moment? the moment between two moments…
when Ambiguity reigns and All-Possibility takes charge…

When one thing could happen, or a thousand other things…

There is a magical moment that lives as wide-awake potential…

When the outward turns inward
and the inward explodes into the outward…

When the up meets the down
and contraction expands…

Meet me there!
where opposites unite…

And I will tell you
what you already know.

  1. I love this! As a teacher, this is the space I feel like I enter when I am really connected with a student. With luck we meet in that space. And though I don’t play violin, as an actor, I am familiar with that elusive sense of ease and possibility that happens when you have the ability to move in any direction or no direction, feel anything or nothing, do anything, or just be. Thank you for this wonderful articulation. It is good inspiration for the beginning of my teaching week!

    1. Thank you for writing, Jeremy. Glad it will be inspiring your own teaching. Yes, this empty moment of inspiration is available to all of us at all times, regardless of whether we are musicians, actors, dancers, or window-washers. 🙂 It’s where the heart of spontaneity lies, I believe. Enjoy!
