Maybe you’re one way with your students… another with your stand partner… and someone completely different when you step on stage.
I recently coached a violinist who realized this was exactly what she was doing. She thought her problem was physical — stiffness and pain in her neck and shoulders, fingers that just wouldn’t move the way she wanted.
But what we discovered together was that the real issue wasn’t just in her muscles. The constant people-pleasing and self-shrinking was exhausting her whole nervous system. Her entire body was reacting to the pressure of always adapting, always trying to please.
When she learned to stay present with herself instead of chasing perfection or “fixing” her technique, everything changed. She could finally engage authentically with the music and the people around her… and the pain? It dissolved completely.
This is what happens when we stop living in reaction mode and start living in alignment with ourselves.
If this resonates with you, I’m hosting a workshop soon to help musicians stay calm, strong, and centered — even when the world around us is chaotic.
Drop the word CALM below, and I’ll send you the details as soon as they’re ready. 🌿✨
