Do you tend to compare yourself to others or feel too competitive? (See the short video I made below on this topic.)

I've been competing my whole life – from my earliest days as a sibling, to competing in international competitions as a teenager, to running my own online business while viewing other professionals on social media.

And you know what? One of the most challenging battles I've faced isn't actually waged against anyone else – it's a daily meeting with what I call the “Doubt Monsters”, what I lovingly call the very human, negative thoughts that whisper in our ears, making us react to what happens around us and within us… causing us to believe the illusion that we're separate from others and alone.

These monsters show up in sneaky ways, don't they? The subtle comparisons we make as parents. The way we size ourselves up against colleagues or fellow artists. Even when we think we're “winning” these comparisons, they're still pulling us away from our true creative power.

Just this morning, I got triggered by something that sent these Doubt Monsters into overdrive. But here's the beautiful thing – I've learned to see these triggers as teachers. Within minutes of using my personal system for self-care and emotional processing (which sometimes includes what I playfully call “putting on horse blinders” 😊), I wasn't just back to baseline – I was actually stronger than before.

We're not meant to live in this constant state of comparison and scarcity. Whether you're a musician, artist, parent, or professional in any field, this sense of separation can actually make us physically and emotionally sick. It blocks our creativity and dims our light.

The truth? We're all connected. Your win is my win. Your growth helps us all grow. It's not about wearing rose-colored glasses (mine are actually blue! 😉) – it's about seeing the deeper reality that we're all in this together.

If you're struggling with comparison and competition, know you're not alone. I'd love to share more about the emotional processing tools that help me transform these challenging feelings into creative gold.

These are the teachings that have helped my students dramatically improve their artistry, heal from pain that doctors said would never go away, and feel GREAT about auditions they were terrified about for years.

Drop “emotional alchemy” in the comments or email me at jennifer@artoffreedom.me if you'd like to learn more about breaking free from these patterns with ease and joy.

Life's too short to let the Doubt Monsters win!! 🙂 💫
