Here’s Jessica's amazing experience from way back when she was studying the Alexander Technique for musicians at CCM:  

“Studying Alexander Technique has helped me stay calm in stressful situations – auditions, big orchestra solos, concerto performances, teaching in front of a large group – and it's helped me perform successfully in these circumstances.

Success is great, but what is more interesting is that when I'm calm, other people (conductors, judges, students, audiences) perceive confidence and competence.

They don't necessarily pick up on the calm – what they see first and foremost is someone who is able to do the job consistently and who they can trust.

I'm not an extrovert, and I don't try to puff myself up with bravado in stressful situations.

Confidence isn't always portrayed by who can play the loudest or fastest – sometimes it's quietly embodied in the person who has inner calm and lets the music sing through.”
