Today, let's celebrate Chloe Dunn, British Classical and Jazz Violinist and Vocalist living in France! 🎉

🎻 CHLOE'S TRANSFORMATION CONTINUES TO AMAZE ME

When I first wrote about Chloe's journey in my book, I was inspired by her courage and determination. But what's happened since she completed her work with me? Pure magic!

She's not just playing violin anymore—she's creating. She's released her first singles, blending her voice and violin in ways that are absolutely stunning. She's on stage singing her heart out, connecting with audiences on a level she once thought was impossible. She's touring with her band, living out the dream that inspired her as a child lying on her bed, transported by the ecstasy of music.

Watching her realize her dreams as a true artist—it constantly amazes me. This is why I do this work!

Keep reading for her remarkable story from my book…

“Building a career in music is tough when you're constantly second guessing how your music is being perceived, and over-analysing the reactions you get from audiences, whilst also spending all your time in the practise room beating yourself up about not being good enough. Working with Jennifer, I'm free to be able to live the music I play and free to get real satisfaction from sharing it whole-heartedly with others. Jennifer's work is truly transformative. I'm so glad I chose to work with her.”

📚Excerpt from my book, ‘Make Great Music with Ease! The Secret to Smarter Practice, Confident Performance, and Living a Happier Life':

“When Chloe found me online and we began discussing options for study with me, she sent me a wonderful video of herself playing jazz violin. I thoroughly enjoyed her performance. It lifted my spirits as I listened to it throughout the day, and I wrote her, “What fun!” Sadly, my heartfelt comment triggered her, and she shrank back into self-criticism, thinking that her jazz playing wasn't good enough.

This was easy to understand when, after we were working together later, she shared with me how her classical violin teacher (when she was a young teenager) was not a kind or patient man, but highly critical, he rarely had an encouraging word as she struggled to please him and live up to his unrealistic standards. She worked hard, but her teacher discouraged her bluntly, telling her she had almost zero chance to become a professional musician.

Knowing her history, I marveled at Chloe's determination to pursue music as a career. When I asked her what had motivated her to keep playing in the face of such strong external and internal criticism, she admitted that she had never really experienced joy while playing the violin, but she did have a powerful experience as a child that she will never forget.

One night, Chloe moved her bed into the middle of her room and turned on some music she loved. She lay there, relaxing on the bed as she let the music wash over her. She became filled by the beauty of this music and felt as if she were being transported—as if she were rising above her own physical body. She experienced such ecstasy through the music that she knew beyond a doubt THIS was what she wanted to do with her life—be a participant in creating this beauty so she could experience it again and again, and share this ecstatic experience with others.

Chloe was inspired through music, and this Inspiration carried her through a very difficult situation with her teacher in her teen years. Lacking good instruction, she struggled greatly with poor technique and unhelpful habits, and a tremendous amount of self-doubt.

After a few months in my private coaching program, Chloe revealed to me that she was still playing on a student violin purchased for approximately 100 British pounds ($100 US)! What a miracle that she was still playing the violin, against all the odds!

At first, coming to me, Chloe was completely unable to recognize that her playing was already quite stellar. She felt stiff and constrained while performing and had internalized all the harsh criticism she'd received from her teacher. The result was she suffered from imposter syndrome, unable to consider herself a “real musician.”

Her deep love of music was still in there, but she didn't know how to surrender to that. She had no idea how to get out of her own way and allow her creative spirit free rein to flow through her.

As she began learning The Art of Freedom® Method and applying Primal Alexander to her daily practice, I encouraged Chloe to make some short videos, playing, and to share them with my online studio of musicians working on similar issues. She was understandably nervous at first.

But through our work together, and as her mind-body coordination kept improving, she saw her playing more objectively, finding that she could slowly let down her defenses, relax, and open up her soul to express herself fully and authentically. Her playing improved the more she did this, and as making the videos got easier with practice, she started to enjoy her music—as did, naturally, her audience!”
